EMOTIONAL and MENTAL HEALTH INFORMATION EVENING
AIM : To to highlight how the school has been implementing the Emotional and Mental Health elements of the curriculum. Sciennes school places great importance in developing happy, resilient and confident pupils and is at the forefront in progressing this work in partnership with parents. This evening will offer parents a more detailed understanding of this work, how it is progressing and an opportunity to become involved.
General Introduction – Carolyn Anstruther, Deputy Head Teacher
There will then be three concurrent sessions on the following topics. (There will be the opportunity to attend any or all over the sessions).
Mindfulness – to provide a brief outline of the many benefits of mindfulness for children, and to introduce the new Paws b mindfulness programme
Emotion Talks – to explain of the programme for talking and learning about emotions and emotional well being that is used throughout the school
Mindset – to discuss of how we foster a Growth Mindset in our pupils – the belief that intelligence and abilities can be developed through effort, persistence, trying different strategies and learning from mistakes.
There will also be the opportunity for parents to offer feedback on the evening and suggestions for future developments.
